We finally got a halfway decent weekend, so I decided to make the most of it. The girlfriend and I took a nice cruise to Freda to check out the smelting ruins.

My Ride to Copper Harbor
So it was finally nice enough to venture out into the wild. Or so I thought. It was sunny and 60 degrees Saturday afternoon, by the time I returned it was 50 degrees an overcast. despite the cold it was nice ride. There's very little traffic this time of year even on a Saturday. I decided to play on the super twisty highway 26 between Eagle River and Copper Harbor. I took the direct route (straight up 41) rather than 203 and/or five mile point rd. (both of which I'll cover later) because it was cool out and I it was getting late. I decided to venture up Brockway Mountain on the way and head down 26 from Copper Harbor.
This is a waterfall in Eagle River
Brockway Mountain: on the way down
Here's Copper Harbor from Brockway Mountain
and another
This is a little roadside park just south of Copper Harbor
It's pretty neat and deserted at this time of year
I caught a picture of a group of dear crossing the road near Eagle River
This is why this road is so great, the ups and downs and side to sides...
I can't wait to ride so that I can post more!

Summary of 2007
Seeing as the weather is still pretty cool out (it always seems to get cold and rainy when I don't work), I figured I'd post some "best of" last summer's photos.

An Introduction
I've recently become obsessed with travel. Particularly travel via motorcycle. My thoughts are filled with fantasies of traversing Australia on an enduro or bombing the Alps on a fine European sportsbike. These things aren't likely to happen tomorrow, but you've got to start somewhere. Last summer I began keeping a photo record of my back yard; the fabulous Keweenaw Peninsula located in the north wester portion of Michigan's Upper Penisula. This area is chocked full of amazing scenery and colorful history. It's a blend of nature/wildlife, native American Indians, 19th century copper mines, and college kids. I plan to chronicle my adventures throughout the UP and hopefully beyond in this blog. If you're at all interested in neat places up here this might be interesting. If not I just might take some sweet pictures that are nice enough to look at. So far this summer has gotten off to a slow start. We're getting into May and we are still barely above freezing. But stay tunned I'll have some good stuff up as soon as it happens.
